hazelnut chocolate

she had abstained from sweets for quite some time now.

but when lily first bought her a cold hazelnut chocolate, she simply loved it!

so now, once every two months or so, she would have her chocolate shake fix.... sometimes lily would buy it for her, sometimes dhyra or naj!

thanks girls.... and the boys naqi and bill too,  for catering to your mother's sometimes eccentric whims and fancies...

lily would order pizzas or take her for sushi, fish n chips, dhyra would buy her favorite ginger biscuits, earl grey tea, take her to eat her favorite fish n chips too,and beriani, although still studying, naj and naqi would buy her books, bill would buy her fried chicken or a favorite snack, bill and naqi help her clear weeds in the garden, wash her car, clean the air-cond's filter and do all the man's job around the house,

thank you so much dear, kind children, for trying to make your mother happy!

epic

oh she loves the movie about the little people of the woods....epic!

it was just her kind of picturesque wonderment..... tales of the nymphs, will o' wisps.... talking flowers...

sometimes she wondered why she loves faery tales so much...is it the dreamer in her? the little alice that refused to grow up?

she loves the tales on elves and brownies, faeries and pixies, cute little mushroom houses, toadstool shops, ...

she had a hearty laugh last week when lily told her that she still remembered the time when she told lily that all her toys would 'come alive' at the stroke of midnite!

at the fish shop

about a month ago dhyra came home for a few days leave from work which was piling up as usual towards the middle of the year.

dhyra. naj and her had dinner at the manhattan fish shop, dhyra's treat.

she had baked fish mediterranean style with garlic bread and choc shake. dhyra and naj had seafood platter and apple juice . sumptious, yummy food and wonderful company.

thanks dhyra....

faery tales

naj and naqi wanted to buy her some books. so they went to mph.

she was feasting her eyes on so many fairy tales. she wished she could purchase a dozen!

but she settled on hans anderson's collection and aesop's fables. both bound in colorful thick covers with similarly colorful well illustrated pages.

she became a little child once more.....indulging in the tales she loves so much....

thanks naj and naqi....

baju kurung with kerawang

a few weeks ago she had quite a substantial payment for an editing job. so she treated lily, naj and bill to beriani at a family's favourite in jln campbell in tanjung (hameediyah restaurant).

while walking to the restaurant she saw a Muslim textile shop with a collection of beautiful fabrics. she asked naj and bill to proceed to the restaurant while she and lily looked at the beautiful array of textile.

she ended up buying a lovely steel grey material and lily bought two, a water color piece with splashes of green on a cream background and a maroon one. very artistic and looked exclusive.

she marvelled at the 'different' designs and colors. certainly not the trendy and crowd followed ones.

she had her steel grey fabric made into a pair of baju kurung with embroidery at the sleeves and hemline. simple sweet embroidery. the tailor charged just RM42.00 for that! that's the normal price in that part of kedah!

a rainy evening

the leaves are sparkling. the grass so much greener. the petals of blooms dewy and cuttingly fresh.

the air a little bit cleaner.

of course it is somewhat cooler.

the rain brings so much goodness.

the man who bought rice with only gravy

she bought rice with sambal ikan kayu, asam pedas batang keladi, ulam peria and sambal belacan. and iced lemon tea. while paying at the counter, a man placed a container full of rice and some gravy on it. the cashier said to him RM1.50.

she was taken by surprise. rice and gravy only? oh gosh, he must be short of money. she wanted to pay for the man's meagre meal. she was furiously looking for RM2.00. in her purse. the man silently paid and left. she was a bit too slow  .

she wished she had paid for him. or gave a huge fried chicken to add to his rice and gravy!

all the way home she couldn't forget the man with the rice and gravy.

and here she was with all sorts of kueh, too besides the rice, fish and ulam.. he had only rice and gravy!

oh why was she so slow? why did she not just say to the cashier that she will pay for the man too?

if she meets him again at that very shop, she will pay for his food. even if once, she would be helping him save RM1.50 of his money which must be very hard earned.

thinking of others less fortunate, she counts her blessings.

dawn in the garden

she was trimming the green grass and little kiko was beside her, nudging her knees now and then.

what was kiko trying to do or tell her? was he just playing with her? or was it to tell her to let him have the roam of the grassy patch? that she was in his way?

then dear naughty koko came along, furiously running in between the flower pots.

that set kiko after him and soon both were merrily dodging each other, often running headlong into her, making her laugh.

the dawn was cool and balmy, a quiet breeze teasing the fresh leaves. the sky was bluish with a tinge of young gold. the day was new and sparkling. tiny birds were already chirping happily.

she was intoxicated by the fragrance of the blooming jasmines....

an oasis......

of moonbows and unicorns....

on clear moonlit nights do look out for the nocturnal equivalent of rainbows in the heavens.

the moonbow.... sublime.... often elusive, but lovely as the aurora boreallis...

it's magical yet true. and then imagine a handsome young unicorn basking in its light. in some protected vales olive green in the sheer moonbeam.... the fragrance of lavender following the night wind...

and wafting on the chilly breeze a lilting melody from a forgotten flute.... from some other distant dreams....

and standing alone at the edge of time....

spring in the air

the tecoma trees are in full bloom again!

and this literally means the plants are covered only by the soft pink and white blossoms!

rows and rows of such striking beauty line the roads here in kedah. such heavenly feast for the eyes and senses.

blossoming time here coincides with spring in the temperate zones. something to do with the winds perhaps....

in her wee garden there is a myriad profusion of beauties too... the crepe myrtle in loud attention grabbing fuchsia, the pure white fragrant jasmine in friendly little clusters, the orchids in their colorful exotic finery, the amaryllis in gentle mauve looking exactly like slender daffodils, the ulam raja in soft pink fluttering in the breeze....the little flowers of the lemuni look almost like floating lavender...oh so lovely....even the tiny little wild bluebells peep shyly in between blades of grass...

such a wealth of beauty all around.... Subhanallah!
